Orthotics Services
Renew Health Chiropractic can help you create a custom pairs of orthotics to help achieve this goal, treating everyone from professional athletes to elderly patients who are having trouble just taking that first step in the morning. Our staff will complete a custom casting of your feet which we send to the Sole Supports, a company founded by Dr. Edward Glaser, DPM, who developed an innovative, medical-grade foot orthotics manufacturing company, pioneering a completely new paradigm for foot correction, and the casting and manufacturing technology that implements it.

CEO and founder, Dr. Edward Glaser DPM, started the company with one core principle – We Make People Better.  Dr. Glaser, DPM studied mechanical engineering at SUNY Stonybrook and received his doctorate in podiatric medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Although not a common path for a podiatrist, it turned out to be the right exposure for a future foot biomechanist. Dr. Glaser developed a thriving practice over thirteen years and then chose to walk away from that success to challenge orthopedic conventions with the development of MASS Posture Theory. Thirty years and over a million pairs of orthotics later, Dr. Glaser made his life’s mission a reality with Sole Supports, the orthotics lab he founded, which operates under the core value: ‘We make people better’.

MASS Posture Theory is a unique look at managing foot biomechanics from an engineering perspective, utilizing an all-axis model based on individual idealized gait, published in the Foot and Ankle Foundation Online Journal. Dr. Glaser has earned a celebrated national and international reputation for re-visioning and re-engineering foot orthotics and the way practitioners can significantly correct biomechanics in the foot and lower extremity – and ultimately the entire body.

For the last several years, Dr. Glaser has been lecturing for health care professionals focused on treating United States military active-duty service members. Additionally, he is researching and developing the Relax, Release, Relief technology: a series of releases designed to manually and mechanically interrupt the neurological feedback loop that causes so many instances of chronic pain. RRR is used as the preferred method of arch support break-in of Sole Supports custom orthotics.

Rehabilitative Exercises Services

Rehabilitative exercises are tailored to meet your specific needs and to your spine throughout the phases of care. We will show you the exercises in the office, give you pictures and instructions and we count on you doing the exercises at home. By doing your part, we can focus on challenging you more in the office with different exercises.

In the initial phases of care, rehab programs at Renew Health Chiropractic focus on three phases:

  1. Foundation: Basics, Posture, Muscle Release
  2. Extension: Lengthen & Strengthen
  3. Core Stability & Movement Coordination

Foundation exercises are like the foundation of your house. These are the exercises that you will want to do daily and the more consistent you are with them, the better and faster your results. During the foundation phase you will learn:

1.)  3-5 Essential maneuvers based on Applied Science Biological Exercise (ASBE) studies based on the specific condition of your spine. These exercises will help work underlying muscles to help you strengthen the muscles that are weak to support your adjustments.

  • The starting point for the number of repetitions, how long you will hold each repetition and the number of sets per day will be established based on your tolerance when learning the exercises
  • Remember to follow these guidelines and avoid changing the number of repetitions, sets and how long you hold each one without talking with your doctor or rehab tech. It is especially important to do the recommended ratio if it is different side-to-side. For example, you may get an exercise where you do 5 on the left and 10 on the right; stay with this ratio.

2.) Posture improvement techniques and the do’s and don’ts of your daily activities. We will talk with you about what you are doing outside the office to make sure that you are avoiding things that will un-do your chiropractic adjustments. This will include the foundation pose and stretches unique to your health concerns to help relieve tension. The stretches will also help loosen and lengthen tight muscles.

4.) Foam rolling, roller ball and/or other techniques to break up scar tissue to help your body heal.

Extension exercises are like the inner workings  of your house: electric wires, plumbing.  These exercises will help you build a stronger posterior chain (glutes, hamstrings, lower back) which will help support the work your doctor is doing with your chiropractic adjustments. They will also help you improve your posture as well as help you reduce any pain. These exercises you will want to do a minimum of 3-5 times a week. During the extension phase you will learn:

  1. Ball exercises stretches
  2. Band exercises & stretches (and combining the ball and the band to save time)
  3. Floor exercises

Core Stability & Movement Coordination is like the frame/walls of your house – what holds your house up.  Your core (which is the center of your body: your abs & back) strength is important to your overall health and your ability to function – to do the things you want and need to do. You will want to do these a minimum of 3-5 days a week. During the core stability & movement phase you will learn:

  1. NMR – neuro-muscular re-education which means retraining your nervous system and muscles to work together. In working with your balance on the floor, with a foam pad, and/or bosu ball, your core will get stronger and your ability to function will improve.
  2. Core on the floor
  3. Core on the ball
